CANON 50D UPDATE

The more I use this camera the more upset I am.I think I have made the biggest mistake changing my 40d for this camera. the images are softer than the 400d I own as I have sold my 40d.I have already got in contact with TEDS camera store and may swap it for a 40d. what a waste of energy , time and money. Image quality is what a camera is designed for not the lookks etc.I will not make the same mistake and buy the 5d mk 2 in haste.

Comparison of Image Quality between Canon 50D and 40D

50D Arrived on friday 26th of September. Took it out to the lagoon and used it with the 70-200 f4isL ,24-105isL and 400mm5.6L.
The photo of the Cormorant(above) was with the 50D
The photo of the Heron (below) was with the 40D
ISO400/1/1600/5.6F ABOVE AND ISO 400/1/2000/5.6F Below
Both photos were taken with the 400mm 5.6 L lens
MY IMPRESSION
Shooting under normal condition in good light there is little or no difference between the two cameras. It remains to be seen to be seen if there is a difference at high iso ratings.(digic 3 vs digic 4)
There would be a definite advantage having the 50D if you need to produce bigger prints.
I think there is absolutely no need to rush and get the next model up when the one you have in your hand may be as good or even better
FOR ME IMAGE QUALITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT A CAMERA SHOULD DELIVER

WAMBERAL LAGOON NATURE RESERVE LETS PROTECT IT

Being a newcomer to this area I was fascinated by the scenic beauty and bird life of Wamberal lagoon. Wamberal lagoon nature reserve is on 139 hectares and the park was created in 1981.
A long time resident Ian Bryant who has lived for over forty years in this area told me that as kids they used to swim in the lagoon and the lake bed was sandy in most areas. He attributes the recent loss of depth and deposits of mud and silt in certain areas of the lagoon to urban development in recent years. We should do our utmost to help protect this beautiful peice of scenery.
HARIN DIAS
PHOTO TAKEN FROM MY BALCONY
To view bird life on Wamberal lagoon go to website ( photogalleri .com ) or click on photogalleri if possible
