50D Arrived on friday 26th of September. Took it out to the lagoon and used it with the 70-200 f4isL ,24-105isL and 400mm5.6L.
The photo of the Cormorant(above) was with the 50D
The photo of the Heron (below) was with the 40D
ISO400/1/1600/5.6F ABOVE AND ISO 400/1/2000/5.6F Below
Both photos were taken with the 400mm 5.6 L lens
MY IMPRESSION
Shooting under normal condition in good light there is little or no difference between the two cameras.It remains to be seen to be seen if there is a difference at high iso ratings.(digic 3 vs digic 4)
There would be a definite advantage having the 50D if you need to produce bigger prints.
I think there is absolutely no need to rush and get the next model up when the one you have in your hand may be as good or even better
FOR ME IMAGE QUALITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT A CAMERA SHOULD DELIVER
